WorkHealth Checks
WorkHealth is a voluntary program promoting health and wellbeing by offering all Victorian employers the chance to provide their workers with free health checks. WorkHealth is brought to you by WorkSafe Victoria and is part of the Victorian Government's plan to improve the health of the Victorian workers and the productivity of workplaces.
WorkHealth is giving employers the opportunity to offer their workers free, confidential and convenient health checks.
The benefits of providing health checks include:
- They're fast and they happen in the workplace
- They encourage workers to learn about the state of their health and recommend actions that are easy and practical to implement
- They give employers the chance to kick-start health and wellbeing programs in the workplace.
By participating in health checks, workers get to learn more about their risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. WorkHealth health checks look at factors that impact on personal health such as diet, exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption.
Organisations with an annual remuneration of less than $10m will receive full reimbursement for the cost of the checks, meaning they are free.
Organisations with an annual remuneration of over $10m will be reimbursed $40 towards the cost of each health check.
No gaps providers (those that only charge $40 per WorkHealth check) are available, meaning that your organisation needn't be out of pocket.
What happens during WorkHealth checks?
A trained health professional will visit the workplace to conduct the checks.
Participating workers will:
Workers at high risk of type 2 diabetes may be eligible to take part in free programs to help reduce their risk.
Participation is voluntary and each worker’s results will always remain strictly confidential.
